Spirtual Gifts: The Beginnning

1 Corinthians 1:3-9

The first Sunday of Advent, the beginning of a liturgical year and we hear a refreshing message from Paul’s letter to the Corinthians about spiritual gifts.  Paul gives thanks to God for the grace of God given to the community, acknowledges the community’s past opportunity to learn and share their faith and speaks of a community not lacking in any spiritual gift.

God grants each of us at least one spiritual gift, and sometimes more.  Communally, God provides. God does not leave a community lacking in any spiritual gift.  How refreshing it is to know that every person and every community has all of the grace of God it needs to the end through the spiritual gifts.
The question is, do we know this through knowledge or through experience?  Do we thank God for the spiritual gifts given to our own faith community?
